I found this rope, clinging on to the wall on the Thames Foreshore in a long-since disused wharf. Knotted tight and clinging on despite the best efforts of the river over the years

This print is based on a photograph from the Thames foreshore at New Trade Wharf. Looking up, the ladder that would be a means of escape instead made me aware of my vulnerability to the depth of the river at high tide. The badly corroded rungs and supports barely securing their own passage up the wall.
